Triangolo d’oro dell’industria del whisky scozzese, lo Speyside vanta un numero importante di distillerie. Le più prestigiose si trovano fianco a fianco delle più riservate, tra cui Linkwood. Le bottiglie più vecchie della distilleria provengono da importatori italiani, tra cui Samaroli e Darma Import. Tra le più ricercate vi è Linkwood 12 anni 1957 a 56,9%, di Samaroli Import. In seguito, l’imbottigliamento su iniziativa dei proprietari United Distillers & Vintners (Diageo) diventa man mano più raro e riguarda principalmente le gamme The Rare Malts Selection, Flora & Fauna e Manager's Dram. Occorrerà attendere l’inizio degli anni 2000 perché una trilogia millesimata 1981, affinata in botti di porto, rum e vino rosso, venga proposta al pubblico, accendendo così i riflettori su Linkwood. Ancora una volta sono dei negozianti, tra cui Gordon & MacPhail e Cadenhead, a portare questo single malt all’attenzione del grande pubblico, sia nel caso di invecchiamenti in botti di ex sherry, sia delle più vecchie annate proposte, tra cui l’annata 1939.
