Tenuta: Benrinnes

Fondata da Peter McKenzie nel 1826, Benrinnes è una distilleria di whisky situata ad Aberlour, nel Banffshire, in Scozia. Distrutta pochi anni dopo da un’inondazione, è stata ricostruita da John Innes su un nuovo sito e ha preso il nome di Lyne of Rutherie. In seguito la distilleria cambiò più volte proprietari, tra il 1840 e il 1865, e assunse il nome definitivo a partire dal 1845. È stata acquistata da John Dewar & Sons nel 1922. Il nuovo proprietario la ricostruì nel 1955 e continuò ad ammodernarla nei decenni successivi: Saladin Box per maltare l'orzo, aggiunta d’alambicchi e sostituzione dell'impianto di riscaldamento di quest'ultimi. Nel 1974, Benrinnes è diventata una delle poche distillerie scozzesi a praticare la tripla distillazione, cosa che ha fatto fino al 2007, quando il processo è stato definitivamente abbandonato. Ad eccezione di poche edizioni limitate, l'unico imbottigliamento ufficiale di Benrinnes è il whisky invecchiato 15 anni della gamma Flora & Fauna.
