L'11 novembre 1991, Isle of Arran è entrata a far parte della ristretta cerchia delle distillerie indipendenti scozzesi. Fondata su iniziativa di Harold Currie, ex direttore di Chivas e House of Campbell, la distilleria è entrata in funzione alla fine di giugno 1995, ponendo fine a oltre 150 anni d’assenza di produzione di whisky sull'isola. Alla fine del 1998, la distilleria ha proposto la prima versione del suo malt whisky in edizione limitata (1000 esemplari in totale), una versione a pieno grado (60,3%) d’Arran 1995. Nel 1999 è stata prodotta la versione classica 43%, destinata a un numero limitato di mercati. Bisognerà attendere il 2002 per vedere sul mercato le prime versioni single cask del 1995 e 1997, che rivelavano il carattere audace e coraggioso dei proprietari della distilleria, che non lasciarono nulla al caso per quanto riguarda gli affinamenti, utilizzando botti di: porto, calvados, cognac, rum, ecc… Nel 2019, Isle of Arran ha celebrato l’anniversario della sua doppia maturità, proponendo un Arran 18 anni e un Arran 21 anni.
