Come per la distilleria Glenburgie e sotto l'egida della società canadese Hiram Walker, nel 1964 Miltonduff ha visto installare al suo interno una coppia di alambicchi di tipo Lomond. Diciassette anni dopo (1981), in piena crisi economica, questi alambicchi furono rimossi, ponendo fine prematuramente all'esistenza di Mosstowie. Destinata ad ampliare la scelta dei master blenders, senza avere il vincolo di costruire nuove distillerie, questo tipo di processo è durato a lungo, a causa del contesto economico e delle difficoltà di mantenere di un tale impianto. I single malt sono stati imbottigliati soprattutto da commercianti di distillati italiani per le versioni più vecchie e rare (Sestante), Gordon & MacPhail vintage 1970, 1975 e 1979 e Signatory Vintage per le versioni 1973, 1978 e 1979.
