Meursault Les Forges Dominique Laurent 2022

Although the Burgundy Côte de Beaune appellation is regional, it covers plots ideally located on high-quality terroirs, close to renowned climates. Dominique Laurent, former pastry chef turned one of Burgundy's most discerning micro-merchants, produces this wine in the same way as a Grand Cru, with the utmost respect for the terroir. The lieu-dit of Les Forges, located close to Meursault, rests on deep clay-limestone soils, giving the wine richness, roundness and a mineral tension. The Chardonnay grapes are harvested by hand then gently pressed in whole bunches. Fermentation takes place in barrels from Burgundy with indigenous yeasts. The wine is aged on fine lees for around 18 months without stirring to preserve purity and balance.
This pale golden wine unveils subtle aromas of white flowers, ripe pear and fresh hazelnut with a hint of elegant and indulgent butter. The attack on the palate is full-bodied, carried by a lovely acidity, a silky texture and a chalky minerality on the finish.
