Pommard Les Vaumuriens Dugat-Py 2021

Located in the town of Pommard, the small village of Les Vaumuriens offers the ideal climate for growing Pinot Noir grapes, with clay soils rich in iron ore which gives the wine a particular minerality. Domaine Dugat-Py favours a traditional approach to winemaking, avoiding cold maceration and using only indigenous yeasts to trigger fermentation. Wooden or cement barrels are preferred to those of stainless steel and the wine undergoes minimal fining and is never filtered before bottling.
The result is a complex and powerful wine with aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, blueberry and cherry pits. On the palate is a striking minerality and well-presented yet well-balanced tannins. The ideal cuvée to pair with braised or roasted game, as well as steak, duck breast and rich cheeses, such as Époisses.
