Intensity
Elegant and charming, this Pinot Noir from Vaumuriens enchants with its aromatic complexity and subtle minerality.
More infoLocated in the town of Pommard, the small village of Les Vaumuriens offers the ideal climate for growing Pinot Noir grapes, with clay soils rich in iron ore which gives the wine a particular minerality. Domaine Dugat-Py favours a traditional approach to winemaking, avoiding cold maceration and using only indigenous yeasts to trigger fermentation. Wooden or cement barrels are preferred to those of stainless steel and the wine undergoes minimal fining and is never filtered before bottling.
The result is a complex and powerful wine with aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, blueberry and cherry pits. On the palate is a striking minerality and well-presented yet well-balanced tannins. The ideal cuvée to pair with braised or roasted game, as well as steak, duck breast and rich cheeses, such as Époisses.

About the Producer Dugat-Py
A true genius when it comes to vinification, Bernard Dugat acquired his first parcel in 1973, when he was only 15! Gradually, the domain grew through successive purchases of grand crus, mostly in Charmes-Chambertin and Mazis-Chambertin, but also in the village and regional appellations. The wines truly reflect the Gevrey terroir. Above all, the aim is to allow the terroir to express itself. Yields are limited in order to maximise concentration; a traditional and careful maturing in barrels (between 50 to 100% new oak) is carried out for 14 to 18 months.
