Anche se proviene da una famiglia di viticoltori da diverse generazioni, Charles Hours prima di acquistare il Clos Uroulat, nel 1983, è stato uno scienziato e un giocatore di rugby. Dal 2005 è affiancato da sua figlia e insieme coltivano tre varietà di uva: il petit manseng, il gros manseng e un appezzamento di petit-courbu (vitigno autoctono dei Pirenei). Le vigne sono coltivate con metodi biodinamici e beneficiano dell'influenza favorevole del foehn, il vento caldo e secco dei Pirenei. La tenuta si trova 28 km a sud-ovest di Pau, a circa 45 km dalle stazioni sciistiche e a 80 km dall'Oceano Atlantico.
