Fonteny Premier Cru lies just below the grand cru vineyard of Ruchottes-Chambertin in Gevrey. It has an intense yet subtle nose with aromas of Morello cherry and the undergrowth. The palate is robust and the tannins are firm, although they retain a supple quality at the same time. The length is noticeable.

This small, 6 hectare domaine of organic farming extends over Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny and Morey-Saint-Denis. The wines, with rich and mature fruits and subject to subtle élevage, are particularly appreciated by critics and wine guides, despite the fact that the domaine is highly discreet. References are thus made of the domaine at restaurants such as Bristol or Taillevent and yet its name means nothing to many amateurs!
