Information
Located in the Sauternes region, the Clos des Lunes was bought in 2011 by Olivier Bernard - already owner of the Domaine de Chevalier, Domaine de la Solitude and Lespault Martillac (Pessac-Léognan). It produces only dry white wines, which makes its originality for a domain implanted in Sauternes region. Three cuvées are elaborated: Lune Blanche, Lune d'Argent and Lune d'Or. Great white wines.
The Lune d’Argent cuvée produced by the Clos des Lunes estate is a wine of rare elegance. Precision, balance, and character represent its defining traits. The blend consists of 70% Semillon (the king of Sauternes grapes, which Olivier Bernard aims to deliver to consumers at its finest) and 30% Sauvignon Blanc. The pampered vines, cultivated with the utmost respect, are on average 35 years old. They grow on gravelly soils (in Sauternes and Bommes) and red clay (in Barsac).
Once in the winery, the grapes are meticulously sorted and slowly pressed in a pneumatic press. The wine is matured for around six months, 25% in French oak barrels, imparting a light woody touch to the Semillon, and 75% in vats. The latter preserve the natural freshness of the fruit.
This wine exudes aromas of white fruit, citrus, white flowers and acacia honey. It is a simply superb with fine dishes such as white meat or noble fish.
