About the wine

Located to the east of Tours almost directly opposite Vouvray between the left bank of the Loire and the right bank of the Cher, the Montlouis vineyard lies across limestone plateau subsoil, the "tuffeau de Touraine", over which lie clay-siliceous and clay-limestone soils. Production here is split between still (dry, semi-dry or sweet depending on the years and sun) and sparkling (25% of production) wines. When sunny weather permits, the Montlouis land produces mellow wines from grapes that are harvested through successive sorting. The mellow Montlouis wines boast very rich aromas of verbena, bergamot and a hint of almond. With age, they develop creamy notes of honey and quince jam.
