About the producer

In 1759, José Antonio de Cuervo was given a writ of land ownership by King Ferdinand VI in the state of Jalisco in Mexico to grow agave and produce tequila. The first license to distil tequila was awarded to Jose Maria Guadalupe Cuervo by King Carlos IV in 1759. Tequila began being exported to the United States in the 19th century and gradually developed the success it enjoys today. The distillery is the oldest in Latin America and the top-selling Mexican spirits brand in the world.

About the wine

Jose Cuervo Reserva de la Familia was one of the first extra-añejo tequilas ever released. Produced from hand-harvested agave after 7-12 years’’ growth, it is aged in French and American oak for at least three years.
