Hermitage Cuvée Emilie Rémizières (Domaine des) 2006
The wine
Eponymous, cuvée Emilie is a single variety of Marsanne which comes from old vines (between 50 and 60 years old), planted on clay and chalk-rich hillsides. Vinification and malolactic fermentation is done in barriques and ageing takes a year with stirring. This wine, which is suitable for ageing, can also be enjoyed when young as an aperitif. However, by letting it age a little, this enables its hue to accentuate its golden colour and this enhances its flavour, finesse, length and its delicious honey aromas. After several years, it does wonders when paired with small morsels of gingerbread with foie gras and mango chutney.
About the Producer Domaine des Remizières
The family Domaine des Rémizières has been passed down for generations and will no doubt stay in the family for many more. In just a few years the domaine has changed significantly, passing from 4 ha of vines whose grapes were sold to the local negoçiant, to 35 ha and vinification at the domaine. Today, Emilie and her brother Christophe manage the parcels of vines that span over several communes: Mercurol, Crozes-Hermitage, Tain L'Hermitage, Larnage, La Roche de Glun, Saint-Jean de Muzols and Vion.
