Information
The family Domaine des Rémizières has been passed down for generations and will no doubt stay in the family for many more. In just a few years the domaine has changed significantly, passing from 4 ha of vines whose grapes were sold to the local negoçiant, to 35 ha and vinification at the domaine. Today, Emilie and her brother Christophe manage the parcels of vines that span over several communes: Mercurol, Crozes-Hermitage, Tain L'Hermitage, Larnage, La Roche de Glun, Saint-Jean de Muzols and Vion.
The Autrement cuvée from Domaine des Rémizières is a Crozes-Hermitage made from the domain’s oldest Syrah vines. These are around 85 years old and cultivated on a sloping terroir. Vinification takes place in new, open demi-muids and involves stirring in order to extract texture and flavour. The temperature is strictly controlled and the wine is matured in new casks. This is a highly concentrated cuvée with an intense, ruby colour and notes of ripe, dark fruit, prune, fig, violet, pepper, and leather. Structured by good tannins, this cuvée has good ageing potential and invites characterful pairings. Something involving red meat or a magret de canard with figs and red onion would be excellent.
