Musigny Grand Cru Cuvée Vieilles Vignes Comte Georges de Vogüé

    Cuvée presentation

The Domaine's flagship cuvée, Musigny Vieilles Vignes, is remarkably potent, even though in some years its pale colour might suggest otherwise. The wine is powerful, robust, and balanced, but also incredibly distinguished. In general, it has a very fine palette of aromas, with red fruit jam, violets, spice, coffee, etc. Top vintages offer boundless sensory pleasure and require at least 20 years to intensify.

Information about domain Comte Georges de Vogüé

It is to the fabulous Grand Cru Musigny, of which he is the main owner, that Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé owes its world fame. Along with the AOC vineyards at Chambolle-Musigny and Bonnes Mares, the Comte de Vogüé domain owns 70% of the Musigny region. It is also the only one to produce white as the appellation decree allows it. Today, Baroness Bertrand de Ladoucette, from a long line of de Vogüés, directs the estate. In 1986 she hired well-known oenologist, François Millet, to manage the domain. He applied his philosophy of minimum intervention in the winemaking process. Ignoring market trends that encourage vineyards to produce “ready to drink” wines, his approach consists in getting the best out of each harvest and is quite the contrary. Whether the vintage promises to be exceptional or not, quality remains the priority. Since then it has been very successful and remains the most prestigious house in Chambolle-Musigny. Moreover, the domain does not hesitate to downgrade all the grapes coming from vines judged not old enough.
