Armagnac
Armagnac is a French spirit protected by a controlled designation of origin (AOC), meaning it can only be produced in a very specific geographical area which extends across the departments of Gers, Landes and Lot-et-Garonne in south-west France. Like Cognac, Armagnac is produced from wine which is then distilled in a still. The aging is done in oak barrels and the Armagnac can be blended or vintage.
