Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru Frédéric Magnien 2005
The wine
From one of the oldest clos in the Côte de Nuits and created in the 11th century by Cistercian monks, this Pinot Noir was grown in chalk, clay and marl soils. Reputed for his talent, Frédéric Magnien has here crafted a wine sought for its finesse and its fresh underscore. It has a complex bouquet of black fruits, violet, spices and oak, as well as a persistent texture structured by nice tannins.
About the Producer Frédéric Magnien
Frédéric Magnien represents the 5th generation of wine growers of his family. He created his trading house in 1995 and is also in charge of the family domaine (Michel Magnien). He carefully selects his wine growers and the plots that interest him; he manages the harvest personally with his team. He is best known for his red wines but for several years he has also produced white. His wines are characterised by their concentration and their solid character.
