Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée du Père Pape Vignobles Mayard 2007
The wine
Originating from terroirs located to the south of the appellation, this Châteauneuf-du-Pape is mainly composed of Grenache and has been aged for 18 months in foudres. Destined to be kept for many years, it charms us with the complexity and generosity of its aromatic bouquet. There are notes of candied black fruit, cocoa and sweet spices. The palate is equally generous and is framed by fine tannins and a beautiful aromatic persistence.
About the Producer Vignobles Mayard
Vignobles Mayard has Gratien Mayard to thank for its existence today. At the end of the 19th century, Gratien resisted the temptation to leave for the United States after the phylloxera crisis. His love for his native land proved too overpowering so he replanted his vineyard vine by vine. His successors now run a domain covering 43 hectares and planted on excellent lieux-dits in the Châteauneuf du Pape appellation. They practice sustainable viticulture and control yields carefully to allow the terroir to express itself.
