Mâcon Clos Saint Pancras Frantz Chagnoleau (Domaine) 2016
The wine
This wine comes from a blend of two plots of old vines, located in Chasselas and Prissé. It is élevaged in demi-muid (600-litre) barrels (1/3 new wood). The nose is rather understated, with white fruit aromas, and in the mouth, the substance is rich and creamy, yet marked by its remarkable vivacity, ending with a beautiful saline finish.
About the Producer Frantz Chagnoleau
Domaine Frantz Chagnoleau was created in 2009 in Pierreclos, in the Mâconnais. With his companion Caroline Gon, they studied and began their careers in wine. Their organic vineyard covers about 7 hectares. Soils are ploughed, yields are controlled and vinification has little intervention (fermentation with native yeast only). The wines of Frantz Chagnoleau are similar to their terroir, in that they are rich, precise and complex. A domaine that never ceases to amaze us.
