Pommard 1er Cru Les Croix Noires de Courcel (Domaine) 2015
The wine
The Premier Cru Les Croix Noires lies somewhere between the estate's other two crus, the Frémiers and Rugiens. The vines here are aged around forty years and planted on deep clayey east- and west-facing land. This wine stands out through its wonderful structure with well-defined tannins and aromas of black cherry. It boasts excellent ageing potential.
About the Producer Domaine de Courcel
No other domaine better embodies the Pommard appellation than Domaine Courcel. Over 10 hectares, this domaine produces the greatest red wines of the town thanks to exceptional terroirs such as the Premier Cru Grand Clos des Epenots (which it runs as a monopole) or even the Rugiens which surpass many grands crus. Since 1996, Anne Bommelaer and Marie de Courcel have managed the domaine while Gilles de Courcel, assisted by Yves Confuron, is in charge of the vinification process. The vineyards are managed organically (not certified), and the family’s demands are ever present.
