Morey Saint-Denis Yann Durieux - Recrue des Sens 2012
The wine
At the helm of this family domain after having worked for 10 years at Domaine Prieuré Roch as chief grower, Yann Durieux has crafted an unusual Morey-Saint-Denis. Along with his partner Christina, he is dedicated to a thorough cultivation of his plants, grown organically and biodynamically. In the winery, this respect for living things continues. The grapes are vinified in whole bunches with no additives. Chaptalisation and extra sulphur are banned from the process.
After a certain time ageing, this wine reveals a pure character with beautiful juice. It has a bright, red colour in the glass. The Pinot noir used to make it enjoys a superb, oceanic climate, drawing its goodness from soil rich in chalk and marl. On the nose we get waves of fruity and floral notes. Its palate is structured by powerful tannins that will soften as the bottle matures in the cellar. After a few years, it will develop deeper notes of leather, game, and truffle. We recommend pairing it with a dish involving tender meat.
