Priorat Clos Erasmus DOCA Daphne Glorian 2014
The wine
Clos Erasmus is a very fine Priorat wine, perhaps even one of Spain's finest wines. 22 months of maturation in French oak barrels adds a subtle and perfectly integrated hint of wood to the wine’s undergrowth, truffle, dark fruit (black cherry, plum) and spicy (white pepper) aromas. The palate is dense, with a deep and complex structure. The overall effect is very harmonious and a perfect example of refinement.
About the Producer Clos Erasmus
Clos Erasmus is one of the most renowned domaines in the Priorat region. Swiss-born Daphné Glorian, who fell in love with the region, created Clos Erasmus on the advice of her friends René Barbier and Álvaro Palacios, in 1989. The tiny 2.5 hectare vineyard was managed organically from the outset and has been run on biodynamic principles since 2004. The domaine has swiftly acquired an international reputation, but its wines are difficult to source due to their rarity (approximately 3,200 bottles per year). They are characterised by intense richness and high concentration.
