Lot presentation
Leyrat Of. Domaine de Chez Maillard (Carafe) Napoleon
The wine
Leyrat Napoléon is a cognac blended from Fins Bois cognacs, all produced at the Maillard vineyard, which is owned by Francis Abécassis. The Napoléon designation means all the cognacs used in the blend were aged for at least six years.
About the Producer Leyrat
Cognac Leyrat is a brand of cognac produced at the Chez Maillard estate, which boasts 90 hectares of vine in the Fins Bois appellation at the top of a sunny limestone hill. It is one of several estates owned by Francis Abécassis, a leading independent producer today managed by Abécassis and his daughter Elodie. Leyrat produces cognac from the Ugni Blanc grape distilled in two small 2,500 litre stills. In contrast to the blends produced by larger estates, it favours single estate cognacs designed to create a faithful expression of the terroir.
