Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Chaignots Robert Chevillon 2002
The wine
Les "Chaignots" (in old French the place where the oak trees grow) from Domaine Chevillon is a Premier Cru produced in the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation on a 5 hectare parcel, on an east-facing steep slope (8 to 20%). The wine is a lovely, strong colour and on the nose its richness and complexity allow the gorgeous fruity notes and mellow fragrances to develop. As it ages, hints of balsamic and licorice complement the elegant, subtle and wide array of aromas.
About the Producer Robert Chevillon
Domaine Chevillon, in Nuits-Saint-Georges, was created in the 1900s by Symphorien Chevillon. Since 2003, the brothers Denis and Bertrand have been running this 13-hectare farm. Although the domaine is discrete, its wines are no less famous and sought-after (especially for export). They are characterised by very beautiful fruit, subtle élevage and great finesse.
