Lot presentation

IGT Toscane Castello di Fonterutoli Siepi Mazzei 2000

The wine

This blend of Sangiovese and Merlot is entirely harvested by hand before macerating for two to three weeks and maturing for 18 months in French oak barrels. It delivers intense notes of plum, black fruits, berries, oak and tobacco. It would gain from aging for a few years in your cellar and is a great accompaniment to flavourful dishes such as game.

About the Producer Castello di Fonterutoli

The Mazzei family has owned the Siepi property since 1435 and manages it with profound respect for traditional methods. The 1980s saw a turning point: the introduction of Merlot to the already existing vineyards of Sangiovese. The property is characterised by its unique microclimate and terroir that impart the wines with power, elegance and complexity.
