Domain: John Power & Sons

Founded in 1791, John Power & Son is a former Irish whiskey distillery which closed in 1974. In 1866, John Power & Son began bottling its own whisky, becoming the first distillery to own its own bottling facilities. In 1966, Powers teamed up with the last Irish distilleries in operation, the Cork Distillers Company and its Dublin rival John Jameson & Son, to form the Irish Distillers group. In a bold move, this newly created entity decided to close all existing distilleries and group together the entire production of Irish whiskey in a new distillery built in Midleton, County Cork.
