Domaine Mattia Carfagna was established by the young winemaker whose name it bears. At the age of 19, he was already working alongside his father Fransesco in Tuscany, who runs the Italian vineyard Altura masterfully. He decided to take over Catherine Dumora and Manuel Duveau’s vineyards in the charming village of Châteaugay, in the heart of the Auvergne, in 2019. The winemaker passionately nurtures his Gamay vines. Convinced that the right balance between man and the land are essential to producing high quality raw materials and great wines, Mattia cultivates his vines with the greatest respect for the soil and biodiversity. In the winery, vinification involves minimal intervention and sulphur is used in minute quantities. The passionate and ambitious winemaker produces authentic and aromatic wines that perfectly reflect the terroir, further brought to life by the warmth and friendliness of his Italian origins.
