The first records of the Prunier family date back to 1701, when it acted as a merchant for winegrowers, but it was not until 1769 that bottling and export activities really took off in Cognac. Convinced that rail transport would be most suitable for his products, in 1850 Jean Prunier decided to build the family-run cognac house and cellars next to the railway. In 1918, the widow of Jean’s son Alphonse left the estate to her nephew Jean Burnez. Another generation of this branch of the Prunier family tree now runs the estate today.
