Etiquette générique

Ajaccio's vineyards cover 220 hectares, spread over the hills, in a radius of a few dozen kilometres around southern Corsica's main town and its beautiful bay. In this mountainous landscape, the vines are generally planted around the villages, on hills with a maximum altitude of around 350 metres. The soil is usually granitic and the most common grape variety is Sciacarello. Production consists of reds and rosés, and a tiny amount of white wine. The predominantly red wines can be kept for some years. Very refined, with aromas of violets and coffee, sometimes with a hint of iodine, depending on the terroir, they have a persistent, supple character. The rosés are very aromatic, with scents of roses and cherries; perfect for the summer, these are generous wines, without any aggressive tannins.
