The "Roi du Beajolais" takes its name from an old windmill on a hill in Romanèche-Thorins. The terroir's exceptional power is due to a subsoil of pink granitic sand, rich in manganese dioxide. Moulin-à-Vent has a dark, ruby colour and develops intense fruit with notes of irises, wilted roses, spices and ripe fruit; on the palate it has an impressive structure, suggesting that it has the capacity to age for many years.
