The intense heat that featured in 1982, particularly during the harvest period, blocked fermentation for this initially promising vintage, especially in the south. The Côte-Rôtie wines are supple and beautifully fragrant. The richer Hermitage reds boast greater complexity. Less concentrated, the whites are still particularly interesting. The Châteauneuf-du-Pape harvest was too abundant, resulting in diluted yet elegant wines.
