Like most French regions, the southern Rhône valley reaped the benefits of perfect weather conditions. Low yields delivered very dense wines, wonderful acidity and impressive tannins which promise great potential for lengthy ageing. All the major appellations produced fine wines, particularly Châteauneuf du Pape.
This vintage is well balanced with fresh, ripe fruits. It was particularly good for white wines, often unjustly cast in the shade by red wines in Châteauneuf and throughout the region.
