Vintage description 2013 Languedoc

In France, the quality or shortcomings of a vintage are often judged by what the year had in store for Bordeaux. In 2013, this is especially clear. As this was a very difficult year in the Bordeaux region, the majority of wine lovers have the impression that this was a hit and miss year for all French appellations. In fact, the Languedoc region (along with Roussillon) is a perfect example of the opposite, as 2013 is without a doubt the most successful vintage produced here in more than ten years! This is particularly true for Languedoc reds. In contrast to other good vintages, these wines have lower alcohol levels and boast mature and deep structures enhanced by a superb delicate quality and a near-perfect balance.
Red wines from Faugères and Saint-Chinian have been particularly successful, as have parts of the Terrasses du Larzac and Montpeyroux.
