About the domain
Domaine de La Mordorée (a nod to the bronze colour of the woodcock, the property’s emblem) was created in 1986 when Christophe Delorme gave up his original trade to focus purely on winegrowing and wine. From the outset, this enthusiast insisted on a high standard of work both in the vineyards and at the winery. He very quickly earned his reputation as one of the top winegrowers among the new generation in the southern Rhône, his somewhat “modern” style leaning towards power and concentration. The range is extensive and includes red and white wines in the Tavel, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Lirac and Condrieu appellations. The vineyards cover 55 hectares, divided into 38 different plots scattered across eight communes. Today, the domain has abandoned the use of chemical herbicides and received organic certification for all wines, except Condrieu, in 2013. In addition to the usual organic practices, it is very proud to have re-established an entire ecosystem among the vines. In the late 90s Christophe was joined by his brother Fabrice who has been running the domain on his own since Christophe died suddenly of a heart attack in 2015.
About the cuvée
The domain produces a unique rosé, showcasing the quality of the wines of its appellation. This Rosé de Tavel is blessed with a terroir made up of rolled pebbles, calcareous and sandstone. It is here that Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Clairette and Bourboulenc grow. Harvested by hand, they are completely destemmed before cold maceration for 36 to 48 hours. This is a rosé which we often do not see nowadays: its intense colour has bluish tints. The extremely fruity (strawberry, cherry, gooseberry, pink grapefruit, mandarin) and floral nose herald an indulgent, round and fresh wine. A true gastro wine, it can be kept for between five and seven years, and like white wine, can be enjoyed at 12°C paired with white meat or with oriental and Asian dishes. A very fine discovery.

Evironmentally friendly : The «environmentally friendly» designation refers to estates practising environmentally friendly wine-growing techniques, but that have not opted for certification or who are still in the process of converting to organic agriculture or biodynamics. These estates may have adopted biodynamic principles (non-certified) or simply no longer use chemical products. This designation applies to recent vintages.
Natural : Wines which are produced without any added sulfur (or almost any) and with no other inputs. However, given that there is no official body to issue the natural wine label, it is based on winemakers’ statements. This designation applies to recent vintages.
