Information
With Moulin-à-Vent and Côtes de Brouilly, Morgon's wines are the deepest and most intense of all Beaujolais' crus. This full-bodied wine, produced from an unusual terroir that consists of broken down rock and crumbly schist (particularly on the Côte de Py), offers delightful generosity on the palate and has an imposing structure. Producers of Morgon like to say that it has "the fruit of a Beaujolais and the charm of a Burgundy": a fair description of this wine that is aged in barrels for several months before bottling. With a deep garnet colour and intense aromas of stone fruit (cherries, peaches, apricots, and plums), this wine needs to age for a few years before it fully opens up.
