Domain: Jose Cuervo

In 1759, José Antonio de Cuervo was given a writ of land ownership by King Ferdinand VI in the state of Jalisco in Mexico to grow agave and produce tequila. The first license to distil tequila was awarded to Jose Maria Guadalupe Cuervo by King Carlos IV in 1759. Tequila began being exported to the United States in the 19th century and gradually developed the success it enjoys today. The distillery is the oldest in Latin America and the top-selling Mexican spirits brand in the world.
