Domaine de la Coulée de Serrant in Savennières is renowned for producing one of the best white wines in the world. This is an historic vineyard, dating back to the 12th century, when it was cultivated by Cistercian monks. Restored during the 1960s by Madame Joly, the domain was subsequently taken over by her son, Nicolas; he made the conversion to biodynamic viticulture in 1981. Today it is Nicolas July’s daughter, Virginie, who runs the domain. La Coulée de Serrant is also a seven-hectare AOP, monopolised entirely by the Joly family. The fabulous terroirs of this domain make equally fabulous wines.
Le Clos de la Bergerie is a very delicate and elegant Savennières-Roches-aux-Moines. It is aged in oak barrels (never more than 5% new) and exudes fruit-forward aromas (notably quince and apricot) with accompanying notes of Scotch broom. Great body and lots of freshness in the mouth. This wine permits a wide array of food pairings, from veal and lamb or scallops.
Savennières Roche aux Moines Clos de la Bergerie Nicolas Joly - Vignobles de la Coulée de Serrant serve at a temperature of 12°C. It will pair perfectly with the following dishes: Poulet à l Angevine (à la crème et aux champignons), Blanquette de veau, Sandre au beurre blanc.
