Cuvée (très) confidentielle, ce côtes-du-rhône blanc se distingue par une belle fraîcheur et un joli gras, ainsi que par son évolution au gré des changements d'approche de vinification du vigneron. Intriguant. More info

This limited-edition cuvée is made from old Grenache Blanc and Clairette vines grown on moderately stony, aerated, deep soils. After manual harvesting and two successive sorting passes, the grapes are vinified without external additives, just natural local yeasts. The domain's natural approach to winemaking has prompted it to use malolactic maceration since the 2003 vintage. Having thus achieved organic stability, the wine is bottled without fining or filtration. This cuvée is distinguished by its delicate aromas of white flowers and white peaches, enhanced with hints of almonds. The palate is refreshing, with a controlled acidity and a pleasant richness, without heaviness.

Côtes du Rhône Vieille Julienne (Domaine de la) Lieu-dit Clavin Jean-Paul Daumen serve at a temperature of 12°C. It will pair perfectly with the following dishes: Ballotine de volaille, Rôti de lotte aux poivrons, Ris de veau aux morilles.

Peak: Drink until 2026

    Information about domain Vieille Julienne

Current owner Jean-Paul Daumen's great-grandfather bought this very fine property in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and planted the vines here at the end of the last century. It has been a family concern since 1905. In 1960, Maxime Daumen made the transition from selling wine in bulk to the trade, to bottling his own wine. Jean-Paul Daumen took up the baton in 1990. He immediately adopted a more natural approach to tending the soil and the vines, limiting treatments and abandoning the use of chemical fertilisers and products. He also draws inspiration from biodynamic practices such as observing the lunar cycles. The vineyard boasts 25 uninterrupted hectares of pebbly terroir and grows wines under the Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Côtes du Rhône and vin de pays appellations. Its Vieille Julienne wines are produced in a classical style and have a reputation for excellence with tremendous ageing potential. They are also very expressive, dense and fruity wines and a good reflection of their terroirs and vintages.
