The Ministre cuvée is a blend of several rare, indigenous Corsican varieties: a phenomenal red wine with an inimtable character. More info
This one-of-a-kind cuvée is a unique blend of old Corsican grape varieties. So old, indeed, that some are no longer even listed in the AOC's specification. Another characteristic is that this red wine is the result of a plan by Jean-Charles Abbatucci to produce the unique "Cuvée Collection" series in honour of his family forbears. Cuvée Ministre is thus a tribute to Jacques-Pierre-Charles Abbatucci, Imperial Minister and a friend of Napoleon III. Regarding its vinification, the biodynamically-grown grapes are vinified in stainless steel vats and fermented slowly at low temperatures (18°C) before a one-year élevage in vats only. This extremely exclusive cuvée is rich in fruity, spicy aromas. An attractive richness and great suppleness develop on the palate, giving way to a long finish. This wine can easily be kept for twenty years, and will benefit from being opened one hour before being served with meat dishes of character.

Perched 100m high in the Taravo Valley in southern Corsica lies Jean-Charles Abbatucci's 20 hectares of vines. Founded in the 1920s by Jacques Abbatucci, this is one of the oldest domains on the island. An incredible 18 different native grape varieties are cultivated: besides the famous Vermentino, Sciacarello and Nielluccio, Jean-Charles has a mosaic of endemic varieties planted in his vineyards that few others can lay claim to (Aleatico, Carcajolo Nera, Minustello, Morescola, Morescono, Montanaccia…). The domain has a biodynamic approach and the vineyards are laid to grass. A flock of sheep graze amongst the vines during winter and harvests are always carried out by hand. In the chai, vinification is a “hands off' affair and the resulting wines are prized for their finesse, elegance and freshness. A true touchstone of wines from this fascinating region.
