    The wine

The name ‘Chambolle’ comes from the Latin word ‘campus’, leading us to believe that the village’s origins go all the way back to Roman times. The Chambolle-Musigny vines border those of Morey Saint-Denis and Gevrey-Chambertin to the north, and the hamlet of Vougeot to the south. With a surface area of little more than 180 hectares (of which 61 hectares are for 24 premiers crus), the vineyard is located on soil composed of chalky rock, pebbles and scree from the Chambolle valley. Planted on the slopes, it is exposed to the south-east. Chambolle-Musigny wines are above all models of elegance and finesse: of a pleasantly coloured hue, they exude voluminous aromas of raspberry, candied strawberry, violet and sous-bois. They are marked by fine tannins coupled with sweetness. The climates of ‘Les Charmes’ and ‘Les Amoureuses’ give wines in which we find all the best characteristics of Chambolle-Musigny: exquisite scent, richness, structure and finesse. Its aromas are many, subtle and delightful. The great aromatic complexity of these exceptional climats offers notes of raspberry, kirsch, wood, truffle and mushroom. A few years of ageing will make way for muskier, almost animal, notes whilst still retaining its elegance.
