Les vieilles vignes de pinot noir qui compose cette cuvée puisent profondément ses ressources dans le sol ; le vin dévoile alors une complexité hors-norme. More info
Domaine Henri Gouges owns two parcels of Premier Cru Les Pruliers vines, covering a total of 1.8 hectares, on a hillside on the southern side of the village. This premier cru is located at an altitude of between 220 and 240 metres above sea level. It is home to a great diversity of soils and even rocky outcrops. The average age of the vines is over 50 years. The result is a wine of great concentration with enormous aging potential. However, the old vines produce a wine with coated tannins which give an impression of great refinement in the mouth.
Founded by Henri Georges at the beginning of the 20th century on 14.50 ha of vines at Nuit Saint Georges, the domain is managed today by his two grandsons, Pierre and Christian. For environmental reasons, some of the vineyards have grassed alleys. Yield selection and grape sorting, followed by 18 months of maturing in oak barrels, produce wines that are characteristic of their terroir. The domain has experienced a real stylistic revolution over recent years. It used to produce the most concentrated and tannic wines from this cold and late terroir. When young, the wines could be austere, but with a huge ageing potential of over 30 years. Keeping this immense potential, they are now more focused on finesse, which is a great development for this exceptional domain.
