Domain: Château Durfort Vivens The quality of Durfort's wines was recognized at the end of the 18th century; Thomas Jefferson, the American ambassador and future president of the United States, placed it directly after Lafite, Latour and Margaux in his fascinating travel journals. His opinion was confirmed in the 1855 classification when it was ranked a second growth. The vineyard consists of several plots, surrounded by vines belonging to Château Margaux. For many years, the wines produced did not meet the expectations of its second growth classification. Since François Lurton is at the head of this beautiful property, the quality has undeniably increased. Since 2016, Durfort Vivens has been Demeter certified. This proves the new owners’diligence to create great wines.
