Romanée-Conti Grand Cru Domaine de la Romanée-Conti prices

Acquired by the Prince of Conti in 1760, this 1.85-hectare vineyard produces little more than 6,000 bottles a year of a mythical and exceptional wine. After the French Revolution the domain was declared national property. Romanée Conti consisted of numerous owners, in particular the Duvault-Blochet family, who had acquired several other parcels, including La Tâche, Richebourg and Echezeaux. Today, every bottle of Romanée Conti is signed by both Aubert de Villaine and Henry-Frédéric Roch. Romanée Conti was the last Burgundy parcel to resist phylloxera, however, during the Second World War, the lack of carbon sulphide lead to its destruction in 1945. Between 1946 and 1951, no vintages were produced. The conditions of vinification and maturing (fully-ripened fruit, rigorous selection, maximum precautions taken at every step, maturing in new wood) produce an exceptional wine. The highly complex aromas of rose, violet, spices, truffle and leather come together in this sumptuous wine.
