Corton Grand Cru Le Rognet Bertrand Ambroise 2001

The wine

The Corton Mountain, an iconic landmark of the French winemaking scene, is home to the villages of Ladoix-Serrigny, Aloxe-Corton and Pernand-Vergelesses, which form a breathtaking landscape of vineyards. The estate nurtures its Pinot Noir vines in the climat le Rognet at an altitude of around 300 metres. In the winery, the grapes are vinified according to traditional methods. The fruit is fermented in vats, and temperatures are closely monitored. The cuvée is then carefully aged in oak casks for several months before being bottled.
The rich, dark red colour reveals a bewitching bouquet of fine, delicate cherry and pepper aromas mingling with subtle hints of nutmeg and spice. The warm, creamy palate delivers succulent aromas of red fruit, leading to a finish of outstanding persistence. This 100% Pinot Noir will reveal its full aromatic complexity after several years’ cellaring.

About the Producer Maison Ambroise

Situated in Premeaux-Prissey in the heart of Burgundy’s wine-growing landscape, the Ambroise estate has been cultivating vines since the 18th century. Bertrand Ambroise took over the reins of the family estate in 1987. Today, the estate is expertly managed by his children Ludivine and François. Alongside their work as winemakers, they also run a wine trading and ageing business. Well aware of the current environmental concerns and with a view to protecting biodiversity, they cultivate 21 hectares of vines in accordance with the principles of organic farming. Each parcel receives specific care depending on its needs, to allow the personality of each one to shine through. In the winery, the philosophy is the same. Vinification is also low interventionist, and sulphur is added in minute quantities to allow the fruit to develop its full range of aromas naturally. Domaine Ambroise offers authentic and fragrant wines, perfectly reflecting the flavours of the Burgundian terroir and grape varieties.
