Lot presentation

Alsace Pinot Gris Grand Cru Zinnkoepflé Agathe Bursin 2018

The wine

The Pinot Gris vines thrive in the heart of a micro-plot at an altitude of around 450 metres. Each individual vine receives unique care, in accordance with the principles of organic farming, allowing the grapes to develop their own personality. In the winery, once the grapes have been harvested by hand, they undergo spontaneous fermentation using the indigenous yeasts present on the berries. Lastly, the wine is aged on its lees for around eight months before being carefully bottled, without fining or filtration.
The bright golden colour reveals an expressive nose with aromas of white flowers and bergamot, combined with light touches of undergrowth. In the mouth, a fine balance is struck between liveliness and flavourful depth, making for a nuanced finish. This wine may be enjoyed in its youth or following a good few years of cellaring.

About the Producer Agathe Bursin

Agathe Bursin took over plots of family vines in 2000 that were first planted by her great-grandparents as a polyculture back in the 19th century. This winemaker who has this wine flowing through her blood studied viniculture and the legal aspect of growing vines and crafting wine. She creates beautiful, fine Rieslings that reflect the terroirs that produce them.
A large part of the seven-hectare property is located in the Zinnkoepflé Grand Cru and the estate gained organic certification in 2020. In the winery, intervention during vinification is kept to a minimum and the white wines are matured in stainless steel, while the reds are aged in barrels that have already been used several times. The amount of sulphur added remains reasonable, even for the sweet wines. Due to its size, production is small but highly worth trying.
