  • This is an unusual but phenomenally delicious blend of Grenache Blanc, Rolle, Roussane, Chardonnay and Muscat Petit Grain, resulting in a wine for drinking either on its own or alongside a cold first course; completely changing character during aeration and tasting. The twenty-year-old vines are cultivated organically and their fruit undergoes direct pressing and fermentation with indigenous yeasts in concrete vats followed by malolactic fermentation. Wine is matured in barrels on its lees before spending a year in the cellar. It is eventually bottled without fining or filtration.

Henri Milan is a rebellious character; he calls himself a “right-wing anarchist” and broke away from the appellation Baux-de-Provence AOC in 2007 to retain the freedom to produce the wines he wanted to make, in the way he wanted to make them. In the winery he uses no additions or chemical treatments, except a very small amount of sulphur dioxide in the bottle, but the wines are unfined and unfiltered. Before he took over the family domaine, Milan had several formative conversations which would influence his winegrowing choices, notably with soil researcher and agribiologist Claude Bourguignon who educated him about organic conversion in the vineyard. Henri has passed his astute critical mind on to his son Théophile, who manages the commercial side of the business.
