Mille Roses 2011
The wine
Created in 1999, Château Mille Roses is owned by David Faure, joined in 2002 by his wife. The 10-hectare vineyard is located in the south of the Médoc region, between Giscours and Cantemerle, in sandy-gravel soil. It is now certified for organic cultivation (the conversion process began in 2010). In the winery, the vinification process is gentle and maturation features a certain proportion of new wood (between 0 and 40%). A domain worth watching closely, which produces attractive, elegant wines with a great fruity freshness.
The Margaux is matured for a year in oak barrels (about 1/3 new wood). On the nose, it exudes scents of fruit in eau de vie, floral notes and slight élevage notes. There is a rich fullness in the mouth and an attractive tannic structure with very refined tannins; the overall effect is fresh, with acidity and real vigour.
