Corton Grand Cru Les Renardes Thibault Liger-Belair 2010

The wine

This cru produced by the fantastic Thibault Liger-Belair calls for pairings with characterful game dishes finished with a distinctive sauce. There are some hearty animal notes in this cuvée, with aromas of leather and black fruit.
This wine comes from a 0.37-hectare parcel planted in 1965. It is located at the centre of a slope and planted on pebbly ground and black-clay soil. The producer applies all his attention and delicacy to the vines as well as the winery to craft a fine wine, one that fully resounds with the famous Corton appellation it comes from.

About the Producer Thibault Liger-Belair

The estate was founded in 2001, when the family’s five hectares of vines – previously leased out under sharecropping agreements – were brought back under direct management. Since the 18th century, the Burgundian family had overseen the C. Marey and Comte Liger-Belair wine-trading houses. Today, the vineyard extends over eight hectares across some of Burgundy’s most renowned appellations, including Richebourg, Vosne-Romanée, Clos de Vougeot, Nuits-Saint-Georges and Gevrey-Chambertin.
In 2004, Thibault established a wine-trading business, Thibault Liger-Belair Successeurs, through which he purchases grapes and farms a further 12 hectares of vines. In 2008, the winemaker expanded into Beaujolais – a region he discovered during his studies – settling in Moulin-à-Vent and creating Domaine des Pierres Roses.
Across these various ventures, the guiding philosophy remains the same: a pursuit of finesse and a constant effort to understand what each vine requires. The wines have already reached an impressive level and are widely regarded as among the region’s rising stars, combining substance with elegance.
