Yves Leccia’s L’Altru Biancu, which means “the other white”, breathes new life into Biancu Gentile, a long-forgotten, indigenous grape variety from Corsica. The result is an authentic wine steeped in history.
More infoL’Altru Biancu is part of a collection of heritage cuvées from the estate of Yves Leccia. This white wine draws its name from Biancu Gentile, a native grape variety to Corsica that, after years in the wilderness, has had its honour restored by Yves Leccia. The vineyard, situated in the hamlet of Partinelone with its clay-limestone soils resting on a layer of schist, is cultivated in accordance with the principles of organic farming by which soils are worked in the traditional way and receive some organic fertilisers. Harvesting is done by hand. The winemaking process starts with a whole cluster pressing that is followed by cold settling at 8°C for 24 hours and must fining. Fermentation occurs in temperature-regulated, stainless-steel tanks at 18°C for a period of about 15 to 20 days. There is no malolactic fermentation. Ageing on fine lees in vats lasts for 6 months.
This wine is characterised by a glistening, luminous, light yellow appearance and very expressive aromas of white flowers and honey. On the palate, it is fresh, delightful, and mineral, with a lasting finish that confirms its vivacity.

About the Producer Yves Leccia
In the heart of the Patrimonio appellation, in the commune of Poghju d'Oletta, domaine d'Yves Leccia is one of the oldest properties. Winegrowing became the Leccia family's main business in around 1900. Pierrot and Angèle passed the property onto their children in the 1980s, one of whom, Yves, set up his own operation some years later. Today, it is his sister Annette who manages the original domain, whose magnificent Petra Bianca plot produces the wine of the same name. The property also produces a Muscat. The property is in the process of obtaining Ecocert organic certification.
This pure Nielluccio, produced from clay-limestone soil, is aged in vats for 24 months. It is a delicate, precise wine, with lovely aromas of red and black ripe fruit, underscored by light floral and menthol notes. Complex and powerful, the palate presents good flavourful substance, characterized by great finesse and a fresh finish, evolving towards elegant tannins. Keep for: 5 to 6 years.
