The Pinot Noir in this cuvée, planted in the same plot as some Chardonnay, boasts a surprising, but no less pleasant, acidity. This rounds off a powerful, fleshy tasting experience, with hints of black berries and a dash of spice.

The wine
Critically acclaimed for its Meursaults, Domaine Matrot proves that its talent is not limited to producing Burgundy whites of exceptional quality with this cuvée. Just like the Chardonnay sharing the Blagny parcel, the Pinot Noir takes root in highly concentrated limestone soil. This accounts for the remarkable freshness and minerality of this wine.
The grapes are completely destemmed and undergo cold vatting (10 °C on average) for 3 to 6 days, before the wine is aged in French oak casks for 15 months. Twenty percent of the casks are new allowing the fruit to develop more pronounced aromas.
The wine reveals flavours of black berries, blackberries and blackcurrants, with hints of sweet spices. The palate is powerful and the tannins are perfectly integrated, providing fleshiness and volume.
About the Producer Domaine Matrot
Joseph Matrot, the grandson of vineyard owners in Puligny-Montrachet, settled in Meursault at his wife's family domaine in 1914. Six generations later, the sisters Adèle and Elsa Matrot joined their parents Thierry and Pascale on the domaine. Since 2000, the 22 hectare vineyard has been converted to organic farming.
